High Protein Cookie Dough Dip

It's no secret that protein is essential for young athletes.

And if you know me (or are getting to know me), you'll see that I always encourage everyone to get their protein from real, whole foods.

I don't like to depend on protein powders, bars, or supplements-especially for kids.

The way I see it, once we can fuel our bodies properly, using real foods, then you have a good foundation for when you get the an elite level...that's when you can consider using supplements and increase your protein levels through other methods (after talking with a professional of course).

So how can we get protein into our athletes, when sometimes-they just don't want to eat any more chicken or peanut butter?

THIS COOKIE DOUGH DIP.

You read that right.

Cookie. Dough. Dip.

No worries about raw eggs or too much sugar...this cookie dough dip is meant to FUEL you.

And it all starts with a can of beans.

WAIT!!! I promise you, it's delicious. Stay with me.

Once you've made this...you won't believe how delicious it is, and how much you're going to want to eat it with a spoon. Seriously.

I posted this on my Instagram stories and I couldn't believe the reaction! SO MANY PEOPLE wanted the recipe, that I had to make this a blog post.

Make it, eat it, and feel the power of protein! This is best eaten as a snack AFTER activity and with fruit to dip.

Ingredients:

  • 1 can beans (chickpea/white beans), drained and rinsed.
  • 1/4 tsp salt
  • 1/8 tsp baking soda
  • 1 tbsp vanilla
  • 3 tbsp peanut butter
  • 1-2 tbsp milk
  • 1-2 tbsp maple syrup
  • 1/4 cup rolled oats
  • Handful chocolate chips (optional)

Directions:

  • In a food processor, add beans and pulse.
  • Add salt, baking soda, vanilla, peanut butter, 1 tbsp milk and maple syrup. Blend until everything is well combined. Add more milk/maple syrup if it's too thick.
  • Add oats and blend again.
  • Remove from container and mix in chocolate chips (if using). Feel free to get creative and add other ingredients you would add to cookies like coconut, chopped nuts, etc.
  • Spoon into a bowl (or your mouth, no judgement), and sprinkle with hemp hearts. Serve alongside fruit and voila!
